This position will report to the Strategic Engineering team lead for Boeing Energy and to the Chief Engineer of Boeing Energy . This position will require the ability to pull from experience beyond Boeing and the Dept. of Defense (DoD) in areas such as wide area energy management, state-of-the-art research by the Dept. of Energy (DoE) and it's national labs, generation (fossil and renewable), transmission, distribution and demand, and of systems integration of micro to macro scale grids to perform duties assigned and the following tasks: 1) Senior Chief Engineer assuring the integrity of the product we develop. This includes assuring that systematic systems engineering and design process is followed and assuring first time quality across all of our partners. In addition assuring Configuration Control is maintained and managed of this complex system. 2) Assure the products developed conform to the Boeing Energy enterprise and cyber architectures. This includes hardware and software. When conflicts occur during the design process, resolve issues with the larger Boeing Energy strategies in mind while keeping the Consolidated Edison, the site PM and all stakeholders positive on the Boeing approach. 3) Using the broader Boeing Enterprise and knowledge of the Industry assure that the proposed solutions are innovative beyond our competitors and leading edge. In addition assure that they are the right solution and supports an innovative evolution to an intelligent transformed grid, while supporting the need to integrate into the national architecture. 4) Using Industry Expertise assure that our technology road map correctly addresses the industry issues and leverages other companies innovation to assure Boeing Energy is the leading edge solution provider. Participate in the new business planning to assure we are investing where the industry is going. 5) Present papers through out the industry forums which help align the stakeholders with the Boeing Energy vision. Utility scale, national scale and DoD scale. Obtain influential position on industry standards boards and forums. Use their demonstrated relationships to help Boeing in energy business. Use their demonstrated relationships to shape the utility, DoD facility and operating base, and Independent System Operators /Regional Transmission Operators (ISO/RTO) and national level Concept of operations (CONOPs) 6) Represent the industry position and vision in BDS energy internal strategy meetings. This includes the positions of utilities, transmission owners, co-ops, RTOs and DoD. 7) Participate in technical evaluations of potential M&A candidates. 8) Shape the utility industry, enterprise architecture and DoD, base and forward operating base, technical solutions to allow maximum use of commonality 9) Lead a user forum consisting of stakeholders from the top 20 utilities, to shape the Systems Engineering and Integration and System of System Engineering and Integration of the industry, Boeing and the DOE to innovative evolutionary approach to an intelligent transformation of the power industry and electric grid.10) Apply Industry knowledge and leverage the Energy Solutions Demonstration, Experimentation and Integration Facility to drive the requirements of the future electrical grid.11) Shape the Demonstration, Experimentation and Integration facility design in St. Louis to align with the agreed vision.
